predicting the nominations for…
outstanding LEADING performance by an ACTRESS in a D R A M A series

W I L L - B E nominated
returning [in order of likelihood]
1. CLAIRE DANES in HOMELAND
2. JULIANNA MARGULIES in the GOOD WIFE
3. ELISABETH MOSS in MAD MEN
4. MICHELLE DOCKERY in DOWNTON ABBEY
they still managed to deliver surprisingly great work and their shows are still cool enough for EMMY.
breaking in [in order of likelihood]
5. KERRY WASHINGTON in SCANDAL
this show went from average to sleeper hit in the blink of an eye and its lead female was a huge part of that success.
6. KERI RUSSELL in the AMERICANS
she definitely did the most acting of this bunch but great acting nonetheless playing the mother, the wife, the lover and the spy.
C O U L D - B E nominated [but probably will not]
breaking in
ROBIN WRIGHT in HOUSE OF CARDS
if the show is the big hit [with the EMMYs] it is expected to be she might sneak into the mix.
CONNIE BRITTON in NASHVILLE
they loved her work in both FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS and AMERICAN HORROR STORY, so why wouldn’t they like her work in this critically praised show?
C O U L D - B E nominated [and it might not be a shock]
breaking in
TATIANA MASLANY in ORPHAN BLACK
she went from unknown actress to acclaimed actress very quickly and all thanks to her work in this show playing more than a half dozen characters.
VERA FARMIGA in BATES MOTEL
the show might still be struggling to define itself but she is having a blast hamming it up.
S H O U L D - B E nominated [but unfortunately it is a very long shot]
EMMY ROSSUM in SHAMELESS
talk about underrated shows and even more underrated performances that never break a sweat showing the widest of range and the largest spectrum of emotions.
