what this film has for? they love PIXAR [they have taken this prize 6 out of 11 years] and this film might not be their greatest picture but it does have universal appeal.

what this film has against? it is not PIXAR’s best work and there is very strong competition against.

it is great but i do not think the academy at large will find it as appealing, actually i see many not watching it at all.

this is a strange year because i actually really like every single movie in the category but i found TIM BURTON’s most appealing to me.

huge hits which happen to be musicals almost always get one of their new songs here.

2. SKYFALL - “SKYFALL”

this film might miss everywhere but i think it still is a very safe bet in here; how can they resist ADELE?

3. BRAVE - “LEARN ME RIGHT”

PIXAR dominated this category for a decade and with the new rules they might be back with another song.

4. DJANGO UNCHAINED - “ANCORA QUI”

an spaghetti western song written by ENNIO MORRICONE himself seems irresistible to pass on.

no clear frontrunner still (which is fun) but these four are more than locked.

5. the PAINTING

this is the “surprise” nominee of the year, it might not have CHOMET’s or MIYAZAKI’s name behind it but it seem the stronger out of the indie bunch.

6. RISE OF THE GUARDIANS

the branch might go with a full slate of big studio system movies and if that is the case at least we will have this and not other crappy stuff.

if the PAINTING fails this might take its place which would not be that big of a surprise.
