you would not expect a horror film to be this beautiful, at least i would not; however the film is more an exercise in directing and stylizing than a great story in itself - 14NV2010
there is no denying that this film features the greatest production values in any other movie by the director; this film obviously tip the balance in favor of form without leaving out some substance.
did i mention both CHARLOTTE GAINSBOURG and WILLEM DAFOE are amazing as the lead couple [and only characters]?

you would not expect a horror film to be this beautiful, at least i would not; however the film is more an exercise in directing and stylizing than a great story in itself - 14NV2010
there is no denying that this film features the greatest production values in any other movie by the director; this film obviously tip the balance in favor of form without leaving out some substance.
did i mention both CHARLOTTE GAINSBOURG and WILLEM DAFOE are amazing as the lead couple [and only characters]?

with a script that little by little unravels the smallest of details and the biggest of secrets, this film’s love story portrays the romance of the year.
did you notice how easily [and fluent] JULIETTE BINOCHE changes her dialogues from english to french to italian? did you notice those long takes where dialogue is the protagonist and images are just a visual companion?
